In what planet can racism still exist in football today?
I just saw Sterling getting it from a few Chelsea idiots, and if true It makes absolutely no sense, and proves that Darwin was not fucking about.

It is simply about vocabulary and Intelligence there are so many words to use without going to racism, so fucking many.

I've never understood racial abuse and fail to see the point of it. Want to rob a bank, ok whatever..want to have a scrap down the pub, ok whatever...but to scream abuse at someone 'coz they're black? These people are seriously fucking pathetic and hope they get whatever's coming to them.

I detest racist people, true scum of the earth.

Things are obviously nowhere near where they were and its nonsense to talk of the bad old days returning etc
I must say I haven't heard sustained racist abuse in a ground for a long long time
The last individual time was one of our fans calling Carlton Cole a black cunt after he did a typical Carlton thing
He immediately looked embarrassed and shut up

In the early 90's on the North Bank I heard one idiot tell his mate we only had 8 players today. He wasn't counting Mike Small, Mitchell Thomas and George Parris
Thankfully those days are pretty much gone

John Barnes states that black players have invisible banana skins thrown at them everyday.

No but the connection Gary Neville makes is pretty clear - and apparently Sterling brought the abuse to his attention.

I dont think Sterling himself is claiming that is he Goose?

Re: In what planet can racism still exist in football today?
All of a sudden any abuse Sterling ever got was fuelled by racism. Gary Neville today mentions the boos & groans in Euro 2016, the stick was all about him playing shit not racism.

Didn’t somone get spat on , a ball boy from memory ?

The spitter got an 80 quid fine , the bloke that shouted a nasty name will be fined a load more and his name will be dragged through the mud .

Call me a white cunt/bastard/trash etc as much as you want . It’s better than being spat on.

Turns out you’re the stupid one Hairy, but you make a tit of yourself time & time again on here.

The historical context is void as neither Sterling or the fella shouting it have any idea about slavery.

We are basically saying you can call him all kinds of cunt except a black one.

Raheem Sterling: Manchester City forward says newspapers 'fuel racism' in football

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/46498849
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One the racism fueling articles, that Sterling is referring to, was published in the Daily Mail Online

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5253633/Man-City-footballer-20-25k-week-buys-market-2-25m-home.html#comments

It talks about how a 20 year old black ManCity player, Tosin Adarabioyo, bought a £2 million house despite having only played a handful of first team games. Sterling seems to infer there is a racial element to the article because the Daily Mail also wrote a similar pies on Phil Foden, who bought a £2million house for his mum, which seemed to have a more positive tone.
To be honest, I didn't there was anything racist going on there at all. For me the Tosin Adarabioyo story is highlighting how a virtually unknown footballer, barely in his 20s, who has played very little 1st team football, earns enough to by a mansion, but the article doesn't paint paint him in a bad light. Phil Foden, on the other hand, is very well known now and is part of the Man City 1st team squad, though not a regular starter. It would be expected that he has a high enough salary to by a large expensive property.
While what happened to Raheem Sterling on Saturday night is quite shocking, this shouldn't be used as an excuse to start making accusations of institutionalised racism.
